The Boys program competes in the Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League (MBYLL) which emphasizes teaching fundamentals and preparing each player for the next level of development.
The MBYLL is comprised of over 200 teams in Eastern Massachusetts, supports and honors the mission of:
- Create a weekly match schedule for member teams to compete; Promote the growth of the game of lacrosse throughout Eastern Massachusetts;
- Cultivate and assist additional towns to start youth lacrosse programs; and;
- Train coaches and officials.
MBYLL Philosophy:
“There are no standings kept, no league championship or playoffs. We play all players as equally as possible with the goal of teaching the sport and providing a fun experience for all involved. We police ourselves in the effort to provide an outlet for kids that has not been swept up in the pressure filled, win-at-all-cost mania that is too present in today's youth sports.”
All Lakers Youth Lacrosse coaches ascribe to the Positive Coaching Alliance, a mandatory coaching clinic that creates a fun environment, encourages players to "do their best." Midweek practices will be scheduled at the discretion of the coaches.
The eight game season will be played on Sundays (U9 - 10:30; U15 - 12:00; U13 - 1:30; and U11 - 3:00) from early April through Mid June ending in a U11/U13/U15 jamboree held at Ft. Devens which is the largest event of its kind. The Lakers U9 teams will serve as hosts to a U9 Jamboree of their own and involves teams visiting from around the region.
